The
complete Training is intended for practicing therapy professionals (social
workers, psychotherapists, counselors, etc.) and others in the healing
community who would benefit from augmenting their counseling skills.
Bodyworkers, Counseling students and those transitioning into the field
all find that Hakomi Training increases their effectiveness and provides
a solid foundation for working with counseling issues.
Our experience has
taught us that all students, regardless of background or experience,
require a minimum of two to four years to learn Hakomi as a complete
system. Segments of the work, however, can be applied immediately in
the student's private practice.
As a systematic
study of experience, Hakomi Therapy provides a detailed model of how
to intervene clinically on the physical, emotional, and mental levels,
while referencing the spiritual state of the client.

There are two basic
tracks in the Training: Personal Evolution (how the therapist is Being),
and the Technical Material (what the therapist is Doing).
In the first track, the student will delve into the core ways in which
he or she relates to self, world and, finally, client. The more awareness
and acceptance the student has of his or her own process, the more consciously
and creatively the work will unfold.
The second teaching
track, the theory and technique of Hakomi, provides the structure of
the Training. This will be taught didactically through lecture, demonstration
and readings, and experientially through unique hands-on exercises,
supervised practice, and video tape review. Throughout the training,
particular emphasis is placed on the principles and the spirit in which
the work is done.
Integrating both
tracks, special attention is paid to the personal character and style
of each student, in order to fine tune their individual approaches.
Because the Method
is truly learned by working with it on regular basis, participants should
expect to devote significant time outside of class for practice, discussion,
reading, and personal exploration.
